to the sea

from the midwestern plain

and bandit...

tumbleweed at fencepost

desert sky at sunset

i am ghost and echo

rattlesnake and gekko

wide open spaces

where lawmen fear to tread

coyote run all "tucky-tail"

moonlit drive all twist and turn

i am gun-shy

and maverick

canyon creek

and ocean

full of liquid courage

until that well runs dry
