: : : Big problem indeed. We´ve got to find truly non-destructive and renewable non-food sources for energy. Solar power is looking better and better. So is tidal and wave generation. Using waste for fuel is good too. Bio-diesel from algae might one of the best bets.

: : but isn't algae in the food chain for lil sea critters? never good to mess with food chains, being chains and all.

: E:Ever been stuck behind a biodiesel vehicle?

: Jeez... they ~stink~.

Yeah, and I think that there will be health repercussions from it. Basically free-radical filled fumes instantly absorbed through the lungs. Cancer anyone? Just a theory of mine but I was talking about plastic being a problem years before anyone else was.

As far as algae bio-diesel goes, the algae could be grown at the site of sewerage treatment plants and have no effect on the wild environment. Totally self-contained. Absorbing CO2 and giving off O2. Not a bad idea. Probably at least the jet fuel of the future.
