Climate Bill

The proposed climate bill is nonsense for three reasons: (1) we don't know why the global temperature is rising, (2) it won't do beans to affect the temperature one way or the other and (3) it WILL definitely take money out of your pocket.

However, it is an opportunity to teach (and learn) some valuable lessons. How?

Modify the bill in the following way.

1. Set a measurable standard for its success. For example, the global temperature must decrease by a certain amount after 5 years (or should increase at a slower rate, whatever). The standard should NOT be a decrease in the CO2 level because CO2 in and of itself is not the problem, temperature increase is.

2. If after 5 years the success criterion has not been met, the effort is judged to be a failure. At this point two things are done.
(1) the bill is revoked.
(2) The tax payer money is returned to them.

Such an approach is just common sense: try and see if it works, If so, great. If not, dump it and try something else.

Now that I think about it, putting a success criterion and a time limit on every bill should be done.
