On Saturday, March 9th, 1996 (NetDay'96), Topanga Elementary School was wired for Internet access in all classrooms and the nurse's office. On September 28th and 29th, Topanga Online co-sponsored the Canyon's first Internet workshop, held at the Community House where teachers were invited at no-cost and community members paid admission. Event organizers put $400 into the school's fund for acquisition of computers and equipment needed to put the school's classrooms online.
